Dr.akahoshi is a world-famous doctor who designed a new method in cataract surgery which is called “Pre-chop method”. Besides being as a chairman of Ophthalmology Department at Mitsui Memorial Hospital, he also educates at four foreign universities as a guest professor. He gives academic lectures and open operation about cataract surgery in sixty-four countries till now. Currently, he goes abroad for the invitation from foreign academic conferences almost every month. Inspite of his hard works, he operates cataract surgeries more than eight thousand for a year. Some patients come to our clinic from foreign country to undergo his cataract surgery.

In 2003, Dr. akahoshi developed a special nano sleeve to be able to operate an ultrasonic emulsification vacuum with under 2.0mm size of incision. It was required to establish a new way of insertion and make new special injectors (insertion equipment) so that you can put an intraocular lens which diameter has 6.0mm size.
It was put to practical use at Mitsui Memorial Hospital in 2004 by joint development with foreign manufactures and operating with 1.8mm incision has got to be standard method from this year. It can operate with much smaller incision and short time.
An inflammation also can be less and wounds recover faster. After the surgery, the risk of astigmatism and infection become very low and you can go home with no eye patch.

	How do I undergo surgery by Dr. akahoshi?
	A special procedure is not required. （Please refer to our clinic schedule.）

	Do you need a doctor’s statement?
	It is needless. But, if you have difficulties with regular check-ups after your cataract surgery, （Because of far distance etc.）please get your doctor’s statement where you go in advance.

	Can be operated immediately?
	For a safe operation, detailed examination and explanations are needed. Therefore, about three times of outpatient treatment will require. We take your surgery reservation at the first medical examination and the operation will be held approximately two months later. We can not accept if you have already been operated at other hospitals or clinics.

	Is it possible to be hospitalized?
	No. We have no hospital facilities in our clinic. Therefore, all cataract surgeries are held in a day. Please attend with someone when you undergo your cataract surgery. Also to the patients who come from a distance, we will guide you to our cooperated hotels. Please ask to our staffs for more details.

	Is reservation needed for having a medical examination?
	Reservations are not needed. Please come when suit with your convenience.
